There is never a bad time to visit the dogs and cats of Warren County Animal Control and Adoption Center, but Saturday’s Santa Paws Open House promises fun for everyone.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the public is invited to visit Animal Control for chili, popcorn, refreshments and other snack foods while giving some attention to the pets awaiting their forever home. Director Sherri Bradley says she is always excited to share the facility’s progress with others, and welcomes all opportunities to help the community connect with the pets in Animal Control care.
“We have improved drastically in the two years I’ve been here,” said Bradley. “By doing events like this, we can share our successes and growth with others, and maybe get some cats and dogs adopted while we’re at it. Even if you can’t donate or adopt, the animals love the attention they get from visitors.”
During the open house, the facility will be accepting donations of pet care items and gift cards to include in stockings for dogs and cats adopted during the month of December.
In addition to gifts for the pets at Animal Control, they will be accepting donations to help the family of Jimmy Dale Nolan cover funeral costs. Nolan tragically lost his life in the Monday house fire on Bridge Builders Road. The checks can be made payable to High Funeral Home, and can be dropped off either at Animal Control or the funeral home.
Items being accepted for stockings include dog and cat treats, toys, collars, leashes and any other items that are used for pet care. Gift cards to locally-available stores are welcome additions as well. Warren County Animal Control and Adoption Center is located at 169 Paws Trail.
