Perhaps the lure of Valentine’s Day treats is the best medicine.The absentee rate in the Warren County School System decreased from Monday to Tuesday, but there were still well over 400 students out of school.According to school system attendance director Jeffery Martin, there were 476 students absent on Tuesday. That’s 7.3 percent of the 6,435 students in the school system.On Monday there were 551 students absent, or 8.5 percent.“Those are very high numbers,” said Martin. “We hit 603 last week when the decision was made to close schools for two days on Thursday and Friday.”Nearly every school in the system saw absenteeism decrease from Monday to Tuesday.
