Link to be mentally evaluated

A mental evaluation has been ordered for an inmate who attacked a guard at Warren County Jail.The inmate, Jay Allen Link, 30, was ordered for evaluation by General Sessions Judge Bill Locke. He is to return before the bench April 29, at which time the court expects to discover if he is competent to face the charges against him.Link is charged with assault on a corrections officer for an incident that happened in the medical portion of the maximum security wing at Warren County Jail. Corrections officer David Snowden was going to check on Link when he was attacked.“Upon opening the cell door, Mr. Link charged at me,” Snowden said in his warrant against the inmate.Link reportedly struck Snowden in the groin and stomach several times before he was taken to the floor in the hallway.
