Kids Funfest and Safety Day will be held this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McMinnville Civic Center. The family oriented event is designed to celebrate youth in the community.The free event was organized by the Children’s Advocacy Center, Families in Crisis, Hamilton Street Activity Center, Kids of the Community, and the city of McMinnville.“The children’s festival has been well received by area businesses and individuals,” said CAC executive director Martha Pierce.Some of the larger donors have been Jarden Consumer Solutions, Bridgestone, Yorozu, Ascend Federal Credit Union, Pioneer Pediatrics, Metro Industrial Staffing, Walmart and United Healthcare. Thanks to generous donations, the event will have four large inflatables, 30 booths featuring crafts, games and food, information along with safety vehicles and two helicopters, and visits from Ollie the Otter, Firepup, Gilley Frog, and the Mini Standard’s Bonnie Bear.In the “parent only” zone, informative sessions for parents led by school personnel, community leaders and law enforcement professionals.
