McMinnville officials are considering the purchase of a 2013 Ford F350 truck from Kidd Ford. The purchase will cost $33,825.
“We sent out bids to 10 vendors, everyone local, everyone around and everyone we’ve ever dealt with before,” said McMinnville Public Works director Bill Brock. “I don’t know why, they all got the same material, but we received one bid.”
The city went out for bids on a one-ton, 4x4 four-door cab and chassis and flat-bed dump to be used by the Water and Wastewater Department. Kidd Ford, which was the only vendor that responded, offered one for $33,825.
Brock had no explanation as to why only one bid was received.
“Why no one bid, I just don’t know,” he said.
When it comes to accepting bids, the city reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
The purchase was brought before Water and Sewer Committee members Alderman Billy Wood, chairman, Jimmy Bonner and Ken Smith.
“I’ll entertain a motion,” said Wood.
Smith said, “I’ll make a motion that we accept this bid.”
The bid was accepted unanimously. It must be presented to the full board for its consideration. The meeting is scheduled for June 11 at 7 p.m.
