A man accused of head-butting a grandmother, smashing her nose as she came to the aid of her granddaughter, has been bound on felony assault charges.
The suspect, Robert Glen Judkins, 20, of DeKalb County was bound to the grand jury by General Sessions Judge Larry Ross after waiving his right to preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault and violation of an order of protection. He could face three to six years in prison if convicted on the felony assault charge.
His charges come following an altercation at the Rock Island-area home of the grandmother where he was visiting with the woman’s granddaughter. Prosecutors noted there was an order of protection directing Judkins not to be there due to an alleged past incident.
“He was fussing with my granddaughter, wanting her to go back to Smithville with him,” the grandmother told the judicial commissioner in swearing out the felony assault warrant against Judkins. “She did not want to go so he started choking her.”
The woman said she broke up the domestic altercation between her granddaughter and Judkins but the interference by the grandmother made him mad. At that point, she said he started to hit her vehicle but she warned him not to damage it.
“That is when he took his head and head-butted me in the nose,” the grandmother said, noting the head butt bashed her nose open.
The judicial commissioner noted the woman had a busted nose and an apparent scratch on her nose when she showed up to take out warrants on Judkins.
