J.C. Penney announced Wednesday it will be cutting 2,000 jobs and closing 33 stores, but McMinnville’s store at Three Star Mall was spared from the chopping block.Our local store is not one of those which is scheduled to be closed by early May.“It was obviously good news. We’re excited,” said local J.C. Penney store manager Eddie Daws. He said the store has about 30 employees.Three Star Mall manager Teresa Martin was also pleased to hear one of the mall anchors would not be closing.“They are a permanent fixture here at the mall,” said Martin.
