The Warren County Commission has voted to name the Highway Department building after Harold Glenn, former road superintendent. It will be called the Harold G. Glenn County Highway Building.

Warren County Commissioners have accepted a resolution to designate the Highway Department building after former Road Superintendent Harold G. Glenn.
The county’s Highway and Bridge Committee recommend the name of the building, located at 1520 Old Smithville Road, be changed to “Harold G. Glenn County Highway Building.” The full Warren County Commission met Monday night and unanimously voted 24-0 in favor of the name change.
According to the resolution, Glenn served four terms as road superintendent for 16 years from Sept. 1, 1994 through Aug. 31, 2010. During his tenure, he was instrumental in proposing an amendment to Chapter 61 of the Warren County Private Acts of 1959 relative to the office of the Warren County Superintendent of Roads.
The proposal resulted in passage of Private Chapter No. 107, House Bill No. 2047, Private Acts of 1998, removing the stipulation of housing the office of road superintendent in the courthouse and paved the way for the department to move out of the courthouse.
Glenn facilitated the move and supervised construction of a 40-foot by 400-foot addition to the original Highway Department warehouse building located at 1520 Old Smithville Road at a cost of $50,000 with the majority of construction work performed in house by Highway Department employees. Upon completion of the expansion project, an open house was held in December 1998 to celebrate the new addition to the department.
No date has been set for a dedication ceremony.
