After a long wait, construction is well underway on the home for a wounded veteran and his family, donations from near and far helping make the dream a reality.“We want to thank everyone who has helped,” said Jessica Allen, wife of Staff Sergeant (retired) Charles "Chaz" Allen, as she and her family stood inside the walls that will be their home in a few months. Sgt. Allen, who originally hails from Oklahoma, was critically wounded in early 2013 while on dismounted patrol in Afghanastan. Allen lost both legs and suffered other severe injuries when he stepped on an IED. He underwent extensive treatment and rehab at military hospitals in Washington D.C. before returning to his home in Clarksville.
