A Bobby Ray Elementary student will have an extra special Christmas this year after winning the $1,000 grand prize Monday night in the Try Here Buy Here giveaway.
Kasy Valadez had her name drawn from thousands of entries to win $1,000 worth of gift certificates from participating merchants. Kasy registered during a trip to Three Star Mall.
The drawing was held Monday at center stage of the mall. In addition to the grand prize, participating businesses gave away a variety of merchandise.
“We were pleased with the number of businesses who participated and hope that number continues to grow,” said Standard publisher Patricia Zechman, one of the Try Here Buy Here organizers. “For this to work to the best of its ability, we’d like for every business in Warren County to actively support shopping at home.”
On hand to draw the names was Santa himself. Shirley Neal was giddy about winning $100 gift certificate from Ashley’s Attic, although she said she would likely spend more than the $100. Amy Eisler was already figuring out what she would buy with the $500 gift certificate she won from Three Star Mall.
