A Bobby Ray Elementary student will have an extra special Christmas this year after winning the $1,000 grand prize Monday night in the Try Here Buy Here giveaway.Kasy Valadez had her name drawn from thousands of entries to win $1,000 worth of gift certificates from participating merchants. Kasy registered during a trip to Three Star Mall.The drawing was held Monday at center stage of the mall. In addition to the grand prize, participating businesses gave away a variety of merchandise.“We were pleased with the number of businesses who participated and hope that number continues to grow,” said Standard publisher Patricia Zechman, one of the Try Here Buy Here organizers.
