Giant yard sale coming downtown

Do you love yard sales, but hate driving around town to find them? The Southern Standard has the solution with Music & Market on Main.
The event will be held this coming Saturday, April 12, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown McMinnville. Booths, approximately 30, will feature yard sale, craft and food items.
“We are going to have something for everyone,” said Standard employee and event organizer Dale Stubblefield. “From yard sale items, to caramel apples and everything in between, it’s going to be a good day.”
There are a handful of booth spaces still available. Stubblefield says those who procrastinated on signing up for a booth are still welcome to do so before Wednesday.
“If anyone is thinking about having a yard sale in the next week or two, this event would be a perfect fit for you,” said Stubblefield. “Your merchandise will probably have a little more visibility at a booth in the middle of downtown.”
The booth fee is $25 for yard sale vendors and $50 for food vendors. Electricity is included. Booths are 10x10 and vendors must provide their own tables and chairs.
Offering music during the event is Main Street McMinnville with Bluegrass Downtown, a music venue that takes place the same day as Bluegrass Underground at Cumberland Caverns.
“We have lined up the band Marooned,” said Main Street McMinnville executive director Carla King. “They will play from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a break or two. It’s going to be a wonderful event.”
Marooned is a local band that is gaining popularity. The band has been together approximately one year. Members play classic rock and music in the top 40.
Along with approximately 30 vendors already registered for the event, downtown merchants have been contacted and they will be offering booths of their own.
Queens for a Cause will be holding its Autism 5K race from 7 to 9 a.m. Registration starts at 7 a.m., with the race beginning at 8 a.m. The street will be closed during the event, but will re-open immediately following at about 9 a.m.
