A cleanup day will be held Saturday for the Barren Fork River Greenway, the walking trail between Riverfront Park and Pepper Branch Park. The council is asking for volunteers from its members, as well as members of Friends of the Greenway, Master Gardeners, Garden Clubs, and any other interested individuals. The cleanup will begin at 9 a.m.Along with cleaning the greenway of any discarded trash and fallen branches, the effort will be to target unwanted plants such as privet, Japanese honeysuckle, Japanese knot weed, multiflora rose, euonymus vine, and tree of heaven which have been declared exotic plant pests by the state of Tennessee’s Exotic Pest Plant Council.
