Kendra Foust has been named Employee of the Year by the city of McMinnville. She is the program coordinator at McMinnville Civic Center.
“I was totally surprised,” said Foust. “I didn’t expect to be named Employee of the Quarter. When my name was called for Employee of the Year, I was blown away. I love my job. I know a lot of people say that, but I do. I just don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this.”
Foust began her career with the city in May 2007 as a part-time Kids Camp counselor. She would transition to front-desk attendant, then to her current full-time position in April 2012.
As the Civic Center’s program coordinator, she organizes events such as the successful Trail of Treats in October that garnered widespread community support and attracted thousands of trick-or-treaters and their parents.
She also organizes classes at the Civic Center.
“I start new classes and bring back ones we once had, like the photography class,” she said. “It has been so successful we had to start a second class. I also started a water colors class.”
While Foust downplays the contributions that led to her receiving the award, she has a dedication to the community she doesn’t want to downplay.
“I love this community,” said Foust. “I work hard to bring in as many programs and events into it as I can to make people proud to live here. I love my job because it allows me to do that. I want to make this community a place I will be happy to raise my children some day.”
Foust also took the reins of the city’s website in March 2010. She is currently working on a new website that will be up and running by Dec. 31.
She was chosen from a field of four employees that were named Employee of the Quarter throughout 2012.
