Warren County fourth-graders are headed to the opera thanks to the Bryan Symphony Orchestra and The Rotary Club of McMinnville.Nearly 550 students from the Warren County School System, Covenant Academy, Boyd Christian School and home schools will be guests of the Rotary Club on Nov. 9 for an hour of classical music, including some of the most popular selections from Rossini’s knockabout comic masterpiece “Barber of Seville.” Figaro’s song “Largo al factotum” in Act I has been one of musical theatre’s most recognizable and popular five minutes in recordings and live performance. This will be the third year the local Rotarians, in cooperation with the Warren County School System, have sponsored fourth-graders at the annual education concerts offered by the BSO at Tennessee Tech University. It will the first time this professional orchestra, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, has included live opera in its playbill.“Music education for young people has always been central to our mission of bringing the world’s greatest music to the Upper Cumberland region,” said Donna Simpson, Bryan Symphony Orchestra Association president.
