Float river to raise money for kids

By paddling down the Barren Fork River this Saturday, you can help raise money for charity.Kids of the Community is holding its second Paddlefest, which starts at Pepper Branch Park and ends at the VFW.Races start at 8 a.m. for those wanting to compete for fastest time. For those wanting a lazy stroll down the river, a float starts at 10 a.m.Kids of the Community president Ricky Hodge says last year’s inaugural Paddlefest made a big splash, but separating racers from floaters was one thing they wanted to do this year.“Last year was probably the best first-time event I’ve ever planned,” said Hodge. “If you are just wanting to take it easy, it’s about a four-hour float.
