COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Republican John Kasich (KAY'-sik) is in Utah as he continues to cite his strong showing in Ohio's primary as proof his presidential campaign is strong.

The Ohio governor scheduled town hall events in Orem, Salt Lake City and Kaysville on Friday and at the convention center in St. George on Saturday.

Kasich won nearly half of the GOP primary vote in his home state on Tuesday, besting front runner Donald Trump by 11 percentage point in final unofficial results. But it was Kasich's first state win, and he still lags in delegates.

Despite having no mathematical path to the Republican nomination, Kasich's campaign says he's the candidate best positioned to defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton in November. Clinton won Democrats' Ohio primary Tuesday over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
