Laela Ellis and Nica Ellis of McMinnville have been named to the honor’s lists at St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School for the most recent grading period.
Overall, 94 students, including 39 boarding students and 55 day students, achieved academic distinction for the second quarter.
Laela and Nica are the children of Greg and Carolina Ellis.
Amiel Emerson of McMinnville was inducted into the Order of Gownsmen at the University of the South during the Opening Convocation on Jan. 17. Emerson is the son of Esther Hernandez and David Rivardo Emerson.
The Order of Gownsmen is an academic honor society and a unique student government body among U.S. colleges and universities. Since 1875 the Order of Gownsmen has remained the body responsible for maintaining the spirit, traditions, and ideals of the University of the South. The wearing of the gown is both a sign of academic achievement and a promise to continue the ideals and traditions of the University.
