Republican Scott DesJarlais was able to shrug off questions about his pro-life beliefs and return to Congress for a second term.DesJarlais held off the challenge of Democrat Eric Stewart to retain his seat representing the 4th Congressional District.DesJarlais was winning by 112,806 votes to 84,725 votes as of press time last night. DesJarlais was winning 57 percent to 43 percent.Despite his solid performance in the 15-county district, DesJarlais did not win Warren County. Stewart won Warren County with 6,407 votes to 5,116 votes for DesJarlais.DesJarlais was once expected to cruise to victory, but the race tightened somewhat down the stretch when it was revealed DesJarlais encouraged his girlfriend to have an abortion around 10 years ago when he was going through a divorce with his wife.
