Democratic candidates for Senate speak

The political forum for Democrats seeking the 16th District State Senate seat featured a small-town mayor, a former state senator, and a former member of Congressman Lincoln Davis’ staff.The forum included Kevin Lawrence, the current mayor of Viola, Steve Roller, who served in the state Senate for one year, and Justin Walling, who worked for Davis for eight years. It was held Tuesday at WCHS.Roller is a WCHS graduate who was the first in his family to get a college education. He worked for state government from 1988 to 1998 and is currently a practicing attorney in McMinnville.“The state legislature is not Republican, it’s not Democrat, it’s not independent, it’s the people’s business,” said Roller.
