A man has been bound to the grand jury for allegedly using a scanner to avoid apprehension by police. The suspect, William L. Delong, 23, was bound to the grand jury by Judge Bill Locke on charges of interception of radio frequency transmissions to flee from a criminal offense, grand theft, possession of drugs for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving in possession of meth, and driving on a suspended license. His arrest comes after he was pulled over for having dark window tint. McMinnville police officer Aaron Roberts then arrested him for driving on a suspended license after the traffic stop. It was then an inventory of Delong’s truck netted numerous items that plunged him deeper into trouble.“I located a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, a bag of syringes, a glass pipe with residue, digital scales, a police scanner and a container with 22 grams of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine,” Roberts wrote in his warrants against Delong. The portion regarding the police scanner was brought because police believe Delong was using the device to help avoid being caught during the commission of his crimes. In addition to having possession of drugs, police also say Delong was going armed as an assault rifle was found along with about 500 rounds of ammo in the bed of his truck.
