It survived two fires, but the building at 205 E. Main Street won’t be able to escape demolition.Judge Tim Reed has signed an order in McMinnville City Court that states the building will be destroyed on or before March 1, 2012. The order states all the debris shall be removed on or before April 15, 2012.The order was the result of a settlement between the city and property owner Mark Latka.“It’s taken a long time to get here, but from my standpoint I’m pleased the building is coming down because of the safety issue,” said Building and Codes supervisor Josh Baker. “I’ll be happy when this is taken care of.”Baker says there is a 45-day window between the time of demolition and the time all the debris must be removed to allow Latka time to sell some of the historic bricks.
