Cub Scouts quiz mayor about city government

Cub Scouts Webelos of Pack 888 visited the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Tuesday night in an effort to earn their Citizen Badges.Members of the pack, who were accompanied by den leader Danielle Smith, asked questions of the board that were answered by Mayor Jimmy Haley.Jonathon White asked: “What jobs do the mayor and aldermen appoint?”“We appoint people to serve on committees and commissions within the city so we have people who represent the Industrial Development Board, McMinnville Electric Board, Senior Citizens Board,” said Haley. “We have a long list of groups that we make appointments to. I appoint them and the board approves.”Caleb Looper asked: “What is the best thing that I as a Boy Scout can do to service my community?”“Be a volunteer,” said Haley.
