Thomas H. Fisher’s great-grandfather, Thomas Benjamin Fisher, was a soldier in the Civil War. The elder Fisher and his brother, Wilson, were each paid $300 to go to war in someone else’s place. The brothers wanted to buy farm property and become farmers after their time serving in the war was over.Thomas Fisher has the original copy of his great-grandfather’s diary in which he wrote while serving for the Union Army.
