Constable job open after resignation

The Warren County Commission met Monday night and accepted the resignation of District 1 Constable William Bonner. The commission will not appoint a new constable due to an election being held in November.
The 1st District includes citizens who vote at McMinnville Civic Center. Qualified candidates for the vacant seat of the 1st District Constable must be residents of the 1st District. Candidates must be 21 years of age, must be a qualified voter of the district they will represent, and must be able to read and write. Candidates must have no felony convictions and must have no military discharge other than honorable.
Qualified candidates must have 25 signatures from registered voters in the 1st District on a qualifying petition. The deadline to turn in qualifying papers is Aug. 16 at noon.
 Tennessee Constables are officers of the Tennessee Judicial System as prescribed by the state constitution who are sworn and bonded peace officers with full powers of arrest under Tennessee Code Annotated Title 8, chapter 10. Constables are charged with keeping the peace and can enforce laws of the state, county and city.
