City to ask engineer for help with drainage

McMinnville officials have decided to ask the city engineer for his advice in dealing with a drainage problem in the Towles Avenue and Calvin Street area behind Bobby Ray Elementary. The area has a long-standing problem with storm water drainage. Water is supposed to come from school property and Towles Avenue and flow into a ditch. From there, water reaches a drainage pipe under Calvin Street and moves into a sinkhole where it disappears underground.Danny Sullivan, who addressed city Street and Sanitation Committee members recently, says the above process does not work.“Water just stands behind my house,” said Sullivan.
