The city of McMinnville could hire from within for its next fire chief.Mayor Jimmy Haley, who is interim city administrator, says he and McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton, who is interim fire chief, have been looking within the department for someone to step up and take over.“I have been working on this,” said Haley. “I’ve been looking at this with Bryan and looking at promotions within the department itself. We have been trying to get a little bit more responsibility and duty within the fire department with some of the guys to see if they have the ability to assume the position.
