A man has been hit with domestic assault charges after he allegedly choked his roommate over a pack of cigarettes and then fought with deputies.The suspect, Michael Shane Powell, 48, is charged with domestic assault and resisting arrest. He will face hearing April 5 on the charges.His charges come after deputies arrived at his Jessie Road address to investigate a hang-up call. It was determined it was the fifth call from the address.“He said his roommate (Powell) had attacked him over a pack of cigarettes and choked him against the door,” revealed sheriff’s deputy Rusty Woodlee.They discovered the victim had been locked out of the home after the assault.
