Brock announces candidacy

My name is Everett Brock and I am announcing my candidacy for alderman of the city of McMinnville.
As citizens, we expect better from our elected officials and we are not getting this from our present board. The last two years have been compared to a “train wreck” and I think that is a fair description. Virtually nothing has been accomplished in those two years. A short list of things promised, but not delivered, include sidewalk improvements, new building for public works, returning streetlights, wastewater facilities replacement, new fire equipment, new ball field lights, Civic Center renovation, a new police station, a new fire station, and not the least lower taxes.
What we got were three fire chiefs, half the Blue Building demolished, and endless bickering about which committee should be in charge. We need a plan, a vision and stick with it. Make the hard choices and move on.
There was to be strict adherence to the Sunshine Laws, but every day you can see blatant violations by just walking down the street. It has become so toxic we can’t get anyone to apply for city administrator. Four of the last five applicants have withdrawn their applications rather than work in McMinnville. Enough is enough!
We have several major decisions to make in the coming years. What do we do with the Blue Building and at what cost. We must continue to pave our streets. Our wastewater infrastructure needs replacing ASAP. We have to step up and do the hard work required of the job and leave our petty disagreements behind. I am ready to do that work if elected.
I am asking for your support and vote. Let’s once again become a progressive community and move forward.
