McMinnville’s Board of Zoning Appeals rejected a 500-foot variance request made Monday that would allow a digital billboard to be placed at one of the busiest intersections in town — Smithville Highway and Highway 70S Bypass.Board members rejected the request 3-1 with David Marttala, Steve Harvey and Jerry Williamson voting against the measure. Roy Pierce voted in favor of it.“Due to safety issues and my own common sense that it will distract motorists, I am going to move that we reject this request,” said Williamson. Pierce disagreed.
