The McMinnville Lions Club recently held its 2014 Lions Club Youth Outreach Essay Contest with the theme “Why I Will Lead a Drug-Free Life.”Open to all high school and middle school students, participating this year were students from Boyd Christian, Covenant Academy, Morrison, Dibrell, Centertown, and Irving College schools. Students competed for first place $50, second place $25, and third place $10. First place in the high school division went to 11th-grader Keri Berenguer from Covenant Academy.“I was excited about winning,” said Berenguer, who says the prize money will go toward Christmas.
