First National Bank employees were able to cook and bake their way to a $3,066 donation to the American Heart Association on Thursday.Bank employees held several fundraising initiatives throughout the year to generate the money.Employees raised the funds by going to Main Street Live every Friday night and selling ice cream and homemade cobblers, as well as going to Viola Valley Homecoming and selling walking tacos, fried bologna sandwiches, and homemade desserts.There was also a yard sale at the Smithville Highway branch.“This is at least our seventh or eighth year at Main Street Live,” said First National employee Gail Youngblood. “Everybody takes time to make some of the homemade cobblers and they sure are good.” American Heart Association representative Lauren Harris was on hand Thursday to accept a large, ceremonial check.“We could not be more grateful to First National Bank and all of their employees who have put so much time and energy into raising this money for the American Heart Association,” said Harris.Donations to the American Heart Association support research, public health programs and education to fight the No.
