MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Murfreesboro police are advising people to find somewhere to swim other than in the Stones River.

A teenager was killed near Manson Pike Dam on Tuesday afternoon and two other water rescues have been required in the two previous days because people were swimming in swift water from recent rain.

Police spokesman Kyle Evans told The Daily News Journal (http://on.dnj.com/13LW4af ) the person who died was 19-year-old James Patton of Murfreesboro. Police said Patton jumped into the river and might have struck a submerged object.

Rescuers found a juvenile male standing in rushing water near the dam Sunday and were able to lead him to safety. On Monday, rescuers pulled two boys from the river after they were found clinging to trees near the dam.
