MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities in Chattanooga say a woman was killed when a tree fell on her trailer during severe storms that struck Tennessee.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office reports the woman was killed Wednesday at a trailer park in Chattanooga. Her identity was not immediately released.
Powerful thunderstorms with strong winds, heavy rain, hail and possible tornadoes lashed Tennessee on Wednesday, and high precipitation totals were leading officials in counties throughout the state to prepare for flooding.
Bruce Garner, public information for the Chattanooga Fire Department, says the storms that passed through Chattanooga and Hamilton County earlier in the day caused several people to be injured and transported to area hospitals.
