The Southern Middle Tennessee Youth Football Association is still searching to fill coaching positions before the start of the regular season this summer.League officials are hoping to find coaches to fill spots in the 5-6-year-old pee-wee league, the 7-8-year-old midget league and one coach for the 11-12-year-old senior pro league.People with knowledge of the game, a passion for football and commitment to sticking with the league are encouraged to apply for positions.Applications may be picked up at McMinnville Civic Center and mailed to: Pioneer Youth Football, P.O. Box 7092, McMinnville, TN 37110.Assistant coach positions for all leagues are still available.League officials are excited about the upcoming season and the possibility of extending the reach of the league.Currently, Warren County teams play opponents from Cowan and Manchester. Though nothing has been made official, the league could grow by at least one town this summer.League officials are currently reaching out to coaches at Warren County Middle School and Warren County High School to get the league working in connection with the school programs.The junior pro division, ages 9-10, and senior pro division have been the first step recently for players heading to Warren County Middle School.League commissioner Pat Moran believes the youth leagues are showing their value with the success of the WCMS program recently.“Looking at the names of most of the starters for the middle school over the past two or three seasons, you will see that they played, most of them with great success, in the youth program,” said Moran. “That, to me, speaks to the success of our youth league.
