West Elementary’s PTO inaugural 5K took place Saturday, Nov. 13.
The race raised $1,650.
There were 59 who registered and 50 participated on race day. The fundraiser was created to develop funds for an outside pavilion that will serve as a shady spot to rest on the school playground which can also function as an outside learning area. The outside pavilion can also provide a place where students can enjoy their lunch. The plan is to build a pavilion big enough to hold two classrooms at a time. West Elementary is also hoping to provide funding for picnic tables.
West Elementary hopes the 5K will become a long-standing tradition. The race had a total of 32 sponsors. West Elementary’s PTO would like to thank the sponsors and the volunteers who helped make the fundraiser a success.
The overall winners in the race were Blaine Wilcher and Addisyn Watson.
