Willowbrook golf course in Manchester was the site for the 4th annual Willowbrook Pro Am, which is put on to help raise money for the Citizens for Progress Scholarship in Warren County and the Coffee County junior golf program.This year’s event, which was played Monday, raised over $70,000, bringing the total amount raised in four years to over $230,000.Bridgestone, Viam, MPI and Willowbrook golf course team up to host the event, while many other companies sponsor teams and holes in an attempt to raise money for the two programs.Before the noon start of the tournament, District U.S. Congressman Scott DesJarlais spoke to over 100 golfers who gathered to play in the Pro Am and see a section of Willowbrook golf course donated to the Coffee County junior golf program.Also in attendance were PGA golfer Michael Clark and former University of Tennessee football head coach Johnny Majors.Majors was the keynote speaker before the event at Bridgestone Learning Center, where he spoke to Bridgestone workers during a leadership seminar.Sean Kelley, Warren County operations manager at Bridgestone and a member of the executive team in charge of the Willowbrook Pro Am, was excited about the turnout and money raised for the two programs, as well as the growth in the Coffee County junior golf program.“We have set a new record for money raised each year we’ve held this event,” said Kelley. “Also, the growth of the Coffee County junior golf program has gone from 20 to over 100 kids.“The tournament was a good way to reach out and help in our community. Bridgestone doesn’t just build tires, it builds relationships.”A number of local golfers played in the event, including members of the Warren County Middle School and Warren County High School golf teams.
Willowbrook Pro Am nets over $70K
