Thursday was eighth grade night for the Warren County Middle School volleyball team.

The eighth-graders were recognized between junior varsity and varsity matches against Tullahoma at the middle school gym.

WCMS coach Holly Morgan commented about the eighth-graders on the team. Morgan said, “Bri Taylor, A.J. Dodson, Brinlee Griffith, and Ella Ashby are a spectacular group of young ladies. I feel blessed to have been their coach.”

As other teams throughout the county have done this week, the middle school volleyball team raised money at their match for the Stevens family.

Coach Morgan said, “We raised over $1,200 for the Stevens family. We had a donation box at the gate, and fans of both schools donated. It is great to see the impact a sport has off the court. Our team continues to think of and pray for the family.”

The middle school varsity Lady Pioneer volleyball team fell in straight sets to the visiting Tullahoma Lady Wildcats. The junior varsity Lady Pioneers won their match 2-1.

After the match, coach Morgan said, “I am proud of both squads tonight. JV had a great comeback in their match. Varsity faced a tough Tullahoma team. We were able to get girls up at the net, but it wasn’t enough. They have a team full of tough servers, and it was hard to get the momentum back.”

The middle school volleyball team begins district tournament play at Coffee County this week.
