The WCMS Lady Pioneer softball team dominated Franklin North in Winchester on Tuesday for a 9-1 win. The Lady Pioneers are playing well right before their conference tournament begins this Monday at home.
The team’s dominant pitcher, Ceilee Gudat, went the distance in the circle, and five Lady Pioneers got hits in the game. The Lady Pioneers have one more regular-season game before the conference tournament begins.
WCMS head coach Joe Damon is feeling good about how his team has developed through the season, and he likes his team’s chances in the conference tournament.
Coach Damon was pleased with his team’s performance. Damon said, “North gave us several free passes Tuesday that we were able to take advantage of. What was most impressive Tuesday was the defense. North is a really good hitting team and with Ceilee hitting her spots, our defense looked really good behind her. We made all our routine plays and made some exceptional plays for tough outs.”
Damon continued, “With some strong competition just before the CTC tournament and a couple practices, it will come down to who executes when it matters in our tournament. There are four really good teams that all expect to come out on top.”
