On a night where Warren County Middle School honored its many eighth-grade athletes, cheerleaders and dancers, the Lady Pioneers gave people even more to cheer about.

The WCMS girls team doubled up Franklin South 42-21, winning for the third time in its last four games after starting the season 1-10.

Katie Toney set the pace for the Lady Pioneers, scoring a game-high 11 points. She had help though.
Ten Warren County players got on the scoreboard against the Lady Gators as a packed house showed its support.

A tight first quarter saw neither team start off quick, but Bella Cantrell's 3-pointer seemed to break the ice for the Lady Pioneers.  After holding a narrow 9-5 lead after one, Warren County pushed its lead to double figures by halftime.

Toney, Savannah Winfree, Ena Yasunaga and Chloe Volf all connected from the floor in the second quarter, while South only scored two points. By halftime, Warren County led 17-7.

Toney began to take over in the third quarter. The Lady Pioneer guard got to the line for three free throws while adding two driving layups.

Halo Armstrong added a 3-pointer, while Mea Starkey battled for two baskets in the paint.

Warren County cruised to the victory as Toney, Yasunaga, Marli McBride, Kyra Perkins, and Samantha McCormick all scored.

Cantrell finished with five points, followed by McBride, Yasunaga, Starkey and Perkins with four each.
