WCMS boys finish perfect season

Quick and scrappy, Levi Jones scored four points Tuesday night to help the WCMS sixth-grade Pioneers finish the regular season undefeated.

The WCMS sixth-grade boys punctuated an undefeated season Tuesday night by rolling to a 53-30 home victory over Morrison.

The Eagles stood as the final obstacle between the Pioneers and a perfect regular season, but Morrison proved little more than a speed bump against the quick-strike offense of WCMS (8-0).

Behind 22 points from Dyson Elam and nine points from Brody Womack, the Pioneers were up 34-16 at the break. Elam scored 14 points in the first quarter alone.

Isaiah Robledo gave Morrison (4-3) its offensive life with a team-high 17 points. He drained a 3-pointer and was effective working his way through the Pioneer defense and drawing fouls. He took nine foul shots and completed a three-point play.

Any hope of a Morrison second-half comeback was squashed when the Eagles were outscored 14-6 in the third quarter to give the Pioneers a 26-point lead heading into the fourth.
