WCMS advances to championship, falls short

WCMS eighth-grader Connor Williams had a hit against Coffee County and another hit against Tullahoma as the Pioneers played twice Friday.

After beating Franklin South Middle on Thursday night 12-9, the WCMS Pioneers earned the right to face Coffee County for the second time in the CTC Tournament. Having fallen to Coffee County on Tuesday 7-0, Warren County was seeking revenge Friday night in Sparta. 

The determined Pioneers baseball team showed some fortitude and beat Coffee County in the rematch, 6-3.

It was an impressive victory for the Pioneers who were led in hitting by Keynai Bryan who had a triple, double and a single. Bryan drove in 2 runs. Warren County outhit Coffee County 8-7, and never trailed.

It was a big moment for the Pioneers who had to turn around and play again Friday night against a strong Tullahoma team. The CTC Tournament was a double-elimination tournament, and Warren County had no margin for error going against Tullahoma in the championship round.


Keynai Bryan 3, Jerren Harris 2, Brody Womack 1, Connor Williams 1 and Sam Rivers 1. Producing RBIs were Keynai Bryan 2, Brody Womack 2 and Evan Snapp 1.


Sam Rivers started and pitched 4 innings with 2 strikeouts and gave up 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Keynai Bryan relieved for 3 innings with 2 strikeouts and gave up 2 hits and 1 earned run.
