The WCHS Lady Pioneer volleyball team rallied for a district win Thursday night at Charlie Dalton Gym. The Lady Pioneers won against Franklin County in four sets, 3-1. They earned the opportunity to play against Shelbyville on the road Tuesday in a play-in match. If the Lady Pioneers win, they will pay Coffee County in the district tournament on Thursday.
After the match against Franklin County, WCHS coach Erin Blalock said, “I challenged the girls after Monday night to win the next three matches to gain momentum going into the tournament. They did exactly that. They dug deep for the win tonight. Every set was so close and Franklin County has a really good team, so getting this win was huge! The girls were emotional, I was emotional … it was an amazing way to finish the regular season … on our court, with our fans, with a district win! I’m proud for the seniors and so excited their last match on their home court was a win like this. The girls communicated better tonight than they have all year long. They were moving and were determined not to let the ball hit the floor. They gave 100% effort with every play and that’s how we win ball games.”
