The Warren County High School soccer team, coming off a loss to Cookeville last Thursday, got a win Monday night against the Cannon County Lions, 8-4.
The Pioneers took the lead early and never looked back.
Freddy Franco led the Pioneers with three goals. Evan Reynolds chipped in two goals and James Jackson, Richard Gonzalez and Jose Villanueva added one goal apiece. The Pioneers record after the game went to 4-3 on the season.
The Pioneers controlled the pace for all of the first half, only allowing two goals to the Lions off miscues. The Pioneers had any shot they wanted and took a commanding lead at the half, 7-2. Franco and Reynolds led the charge at the half, scoring two goals apiece for the Pioneers.
Head coach Orion Smith took the foot off the gas at the start of the second half as he got playing time for some of the Pioneer JV players. The Lions continued to struggle in the second half and only managed to score two goals.
Franco scored his third goal, with time winding down, earning the hat trick and the Pioneers prevailed, 8-4 in their final home game of the season. The Pioneers were back in action Tuesday night as they traveled to Crossville to take on Stone Memorial.
