WCHS golfer Valeria Vargas finished in a three-way tie for first place after 18 holes Monday in the Cookeville Early Bird Invitational.Battling rain and a sloppy course, Vargas shot a sparkling 78 at Golden Eagle Golf Club. She finished tied with Hunter Grubbs of Monterey and Kelsee Neely of Cumberland County for top medalist honors.Grubbs won on the first hole of a playoff to claim first place. It took Vargas and Neely three more holes to determine second place, a spot captured by Neely.
