NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Pinch-hitter Ro Coleman hit a walkoff single with the bases loaded to send Vanderbilt back to the super regionals with a 3-2 victory over Oregon on Sunday night.
Coleman, a 5-foot-5 freshman, was mobbed in right field after the hit as the Commodores (44-18) defeated Oregon for the second time in as many days. The Ducks (44-20) had slipped past Xavier 11-8 earlier Sunday.
The Commodores, playing in their sixth straight regional final, tied it at 2 in the bottom of the eighth when Bryan Reynolds legged out a potential double play by diving into first to drive home pinch-runner Will Cooper.
Vanderbilt, in the super regionals for the second straight year and third time in four years, will face the winner of Monday's Indiana-Stanford game.
Oregon took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on three straight singles, the last by Kevin Minjares.
