Trio of shutouts

Sable Winfree has powered the WCMS offense this year, emerging as a scoring machine.

The Warren County Middle School girls soccer team will enter this week's Central Tennessee Conference tournament with momentum.

The Lady Pioneers won all three of their matches last week, beating Coffee County 5-0 Tuesday, White County 9-0 Thursday and Franklin South 3-0 Friday.

The trio of wins improved WCMS to 7-2 this season under coach Lyndi Pack.

"I was really proud of how well we connected passes and worked together," said Pack after her team's big week.

Sable Winfree and Izzy Robinson scored two goals each and Hailey Simpson added one goal as the Lady Pioneers started the week with a road win in Manchester.

It was only the start of an offensive explosion.

On Thursday, the Lady Pioneers routed White County on eighth-grade night. Warren County got goals from Winfree, Robinson, Simpson, Jayla Garibaldi, Carmen Verdel and Ky Damon in the blowout.

Less than 24 hours later, the Lady Pioneers were back on their home field recording another shutout. Simpson, Robinson and Verdel each scored Friday as Warren County won a make-up game against Franklin South.

The two teams will meet again Monday in the opening round of the CTC tournament. The game, which will be played at Warren County High School, is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
