For the second straight year, the Lady Broncos’ quest for a MTAC championship ended in the tournament semifinals.Boyd lost 44-31 to Lighthouse Friday night at Currey Ingram School, the site of the final two rounds of the MTAC tournament.The Lady Broncos were tied with Lighthouse 31-31 with three minutes to play, but Boyd went cold down the stretch while Lighthouse finished the game on a 13-0 run.Rhiannon Hoover led Boyd with 13 points, most coming on long-range shots as the freshman guard hit three 3-pointers.Rounding out the Lady Bronco scoring was Claire LeDuc with seven points, Morgan Deweese and Mackenzie Pistole with four apiece, Brooklyn Bain with two and Sammye Jo Medley with one.Boyd fell into the consolation game, where it faced the Middle Tennessee Heat Saturday afternoon. The score was unavailable at press time.The Lady Broncos advanced to the semifinals by beating Daniel One Academy five days after losing to the Lady Lions in the final game of the regular season.Behind 21 points from Hoover, the Lady Broncos defeated Daniel One Academy 48-37 at J.K. Stanley Gymnasium to advance to the tournament semifinals.Coach Stephen Glenn wanted his team to come out focused and refreshed in its first game of the MTAC tournament and he believed the Lady Broncos did just that.“I thought the girls were very dialed in. Our defense helped win the game,” said Glenn.Hoover seemed to be the calmest player on the court down the stretch, despite being one of the youngest.
