There’s talk of a dynasty as Tennessee Warehouse goes for its second straight tournament championship in the girls 7-9 McMinnville coach pitch league.
Tennessee Warehouse won the tournament last year and methodically won every game this year, picking teams apart with spectacular hitting and rock-solid defense.
A 13-2 win over Volunteer Pools on Monday night put the finishing touches on an undefeated regular season for Tennessee Warehouse. Now it’s tournament time where you can throw records out the window.
The one-night, single-elimination tournament is scheduled for Thursday night at Hoover Millraney Field with three games to decide the champion.
Tennessee Warehouse looked in postseason form against Volunteer Pools. Maddie Bryant crushed a ball all the way to the fence for an inside-the-park home run. That hit highlighted an eight-run second inning that put the Warehouse girls firmly in control with an 11-2 lead.
There was production up and down the lineup for Tennessee Warehouse as five players each scored twice – Ella Wells, Lucy Mulligan, Lyvia Wilson, Maddie Bryant and Aubriella McDerman.
Volunteer Pools jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Khloe Howell scored in the top of the first, but the team couldn’t muster enough offense to stay afloat. Emma Boom scored the team’s final run in the fourth.
The two teams will get reacquainted soon. They meet again in first-round tournament action Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Warehouse Discount Groceries and Champion Chevrolet open the tournament Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The winners of those two games will meet for all the proverbial marbles in a championship game scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
