Warren County High School student Ainsley Stefanick practices at Gilley Pool on Friday to get ready for June meets.
Gilley Pool opened Saturday and albeit a little cool, McMinnville’s swim team was churning up the surface getting ready for a new season beginning Tuesday, June 6 with a meet in Manchester at 5 p.m.Swim coach Paige Northcutt plans on her team progressing steadily throughout the season as they get more time to practice fundamentals and learn to compete.“This summer we are looking forward to a great season,” Northcutt said, “one where the athletes better themselves, their abilities in the water, their race times and gain confidence and self-esteem. More importantly is to have fun and gain appreciation and respect for the water.”The swim team is bolstered by several strong returners. This includes Warren County High School student Jayln Mart, the returning high point winner who is entering his fourth season.Mart is joined by classmates Caleb Caten, Eric Nguyen and Ainsley Stefanick at the high school level.
