The Warren County High School girls tennis team picked up right where it left off last season while making its debut Monday in Shelbyville.The Lady Pioneers dominated the Lady Eagles 8-1 to extend their regular season winning streak to 13 matches after finishing last year’s regular season undefeated.Several key members of last year’s District 6-AAA regular season championship team – which suffered its lone loss in the district tournament finals – returned and their winning attitude seemed to have carried over.Last year’s district freshman of the year Kendal Smith led the charge for the Lady Pioneers by claiming a victory in singles and doubles – a feat duplicated by senior Elizabeth Oxley and new team members Maren Podlesak and Lauren Hennessee.Smith started her day with an 8-1 win over Arin Harwell in singles – which Warren County would sweep – and concluded her day by teaming with Podlesak to win 8-2 in doubles. Podlesek, a foreign exchange student from Germany, won her No. 2 singles match with Sydney Cooper 8-0.Sophomore Katie Phillips played the longest singles match of any Lady Pioneer, but she came out on top 8-6 against Keeley Smith in the No.
